  • I went to school here from preschool to 8th grade. Not only did I discover my personal relationship with God here, but the excellent education prepared me to succeed in high school and eventually earn a full tuition scholarship to a Christian university in California. As a response to J. A. Wooten's post: - I highly valued the devotionals I experienced at ACS, which were similar to those children I was involved in at church. They helped to develop my a strong sense of community among students and even between students and teachers. - ACS science prepared me to earn straight A's in all of my high school science classes, perfect scores on my Advanced Placement science tests, and a 31 on the science portion of the ACT. Like most Christian schools in America, ACS does teach science from a creationist point of view, meaning the theory of evolution is not taught as fact. -ACS History prepared me to earn straight A's in all of my high school history classes and very high scores on my AP History tests at Sandia High School. By contrast, my straight-A friends who had gone to public schools all their lives struggled to pass those tests because of Sandia's less-than-stellar history teachers. ACS also gives its students a boost in their history expertise by involving middle schoolers in the National History Day Competition, which is an extensive project-based learning experience. -I am liberal and was an avid reader of both science fiction and fantasy books all throughout my childhood, and I never felt uncomfortable or unwelcome at ACS because of it. -In my experience, ACS first addresses bullying through mediation between the students. If it continues, further disciplinary measures are taken. Also in my experience, ACS has less bullying than the public school I attended.

This school is the nearly cult-ish conservative Christian type. They employ known brainwashing techniques during their "devotionals," censor science and history in the classroom, and any student who didn't go there from kindergarten on, has remotely liberal viewpoints, or even enjoys science fiction or fantasy will be made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Bullying is largely ignored, in my experience. The other reviewers were parents. I was a student.
